Welcome!  This site has been created to assist you in accessing information about school library programs.

Teacher-Librarian Role
describes the contribution of teacher-librarians to the collaborative planning process.  Our Authors section provides links to the home pages of a number of authors and illustrators.  As well, our Inquiry Process section details accessing, organizing and sharing of information.  Finally our Resources section provides links to encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference sites.

Manitoba Education and Training says:
"Students in Manitoba schools should have access to a school library program that is integrated with the school's instructional program.  This integration of classroom and school library is fundamental to the resource based learning model which is essential to student achievement  of the Learning Goals for Manitoba."

Manitoba Education and Training, School Library policy Statement, 1993
According to one report,
"Research demonstrates that academic achievement of K-12 students is higher where the [teacher-librarian]:
  • is part of a planning/teaching team,

  • teaches information literacy independently, and

  • works one-to-one with students in a flexibly scheduled program."
