RobotX Design Build Battle |
An invigorating and
fully hands-on initiative within the Faculty of Applied Science
and Engineering at the University of Toronto developed to
immerse high school students in a week-long, live-in robotics
competition to build the best battlebot. To enrich the entire
learning process, each team works closely with an Advisor—a
mechatronics expert to help you troubleshoot throughout the
week. Students will learn about the exciting world of robotics
and mechatronics while living in residence at the St George
campus of the University of Toronto.

ShadValley |
Shad Valley is a four week summer enrichment program. Students
spend a month living in residence at one of our host university
campuses across Canada. The program is offered to students
currently completing grade 10, 11 or 12, Quebec secondaire IV, V
or CEGEP I, or the international equivalent.
With a focus that includes the sciences, technology and
entrepreneurship, the program provides an academically
stimulating, mind expanding adventure for top well-rounded
students. Students will also enjoy recreational activities and
the opportunity to explore local attractions.

DEEP Summer Academy 2009 |
DEEP provides
highly motivated high school students from across the world with
the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering,
technology, business and science disciplines. Organized by
the University of Toronto's Faculty of Applied Science and
Engineering, DEEP offers one of the most diverse ranges of
pre-university engineering and science courses in North America.
This program has been designed to expose bright young minds with
a clear aptitude for math and science to concepts and topics
beyond the regular secondary school curriculum. Our weeklong
courses fall within different themes ranging from Medical
Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Science and
Mechanical Engineering.

Oceans Educations
Marine and Environmental Science Program |
Grade 12 School Credit + SCUBA
Certification = Excellent West Coast Adventure! The 3 week
program takes place on Vancouver Island, British Columbia at the
Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific, 30 km west of
Victoria. One of our study sites is the Race Rocks Ecological
Reserve, a 220 hectare area of naturally nutrient rich waters.
Each session is limited in enrollment to 16 students only.
Applicant Requirements: Students should be minimum 16
years of age at the commencement of the program. The completion
of Grade 11 science courses are strongly recommended prior to
participation in the Marine and Environmental Science Program.
Age and grade exceptions may be made at the discretion of the
student's Guidance Office and the Program Director. Students
must confirm with their Guidance Office as to the acceptability
of the course and credit for their program of study. Students
must have basic swimming skills and be in good physical
condition. Students are reminded that Lester B. Pearson College
is a smoke free campus and are therefore requested to refrain
from using tobacco products for the duration of the program.
Canadian Students:
The fee for Summer 2009 programs is $3,986.61 CDN + 5% GST
(Total = $4,185.94).
Program fee includes:

accommodation at Pearson College and use of all available
facilities

Instruction and credit for Grade 12 Interdisciplinary course

SCUBA instruction and Open Water PADI certification (or
Advanced certification)

Serious Games Camp is a 4
week immersive program in which student’s experience the game
design and development process as practiced in the games
industry today. They will learn game design skills using
sophisticated software then join a development team to build a
playable video game level that the team presents at the end of
the camp. Students will work with professional game developers
and be exposed to real world development projects.

Web Design Camp is a 4 week
program in which you can experience the design and development
process of building a website from planning to release.
Professional software tools such as Photoshop, Flash, and
Dreamweaver will be taught as well as some of the basic code (XHTML,
