On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to congratulate you on earning a berth to the 2010 AAA Championships held in Brandon on March 18 - 20, 2010 @ Neelin High School.  We have worked hard at making this event a memorable weekend for both you and your team.

 The following information will hopefully reduce some of the questions you may have prior to the Championship.   

1.  Registration

 Please register your team a minimum of one (1) hour prior to your 1st game on Thursday.  There is an exception to the teams playing at 10 a.m. on Thursday.  Please register following your 10 a.m. game.

 ALL TEAMS WILL REGISTER AT NEELIN HIGH SCHOOL IN THE

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CENTER (PAC)

i)                  Pay for Banquet Tickets at this time:  $5.00 per participant = _____

(Cheques made payable to Neelin High School)

Orders must be in to the above address by Monday, March 15, 2010

ii)               Pay for Championship T-shirts: $15.00 per shirt

 NEED TO BE SECURED BY TUESDAY MARCH 9, 2010 AT THE LATEST

PLEASE GET YOUR ORDERS IN ASAP!!

 iii)            Receive Team Welcome Packages & Coach’s Package  

iv)             Go to Neelin Lecture Theatre & get team picture and individual  player pictures which will be taken by “Champion Digital Photograph”

** Team’s need to be in game warm-up or uniforms

***Plan on 15 minutes to complete this

   2.  Banquet / Opening Ceremony

            7:00 p.m. (sharp)

·         Please find Hostess who will escort you to your tables your team sign

·         Teams should arrive prior to 6:40 p.m. as the Banquet will start at 7:00 p.m. with or without teams.

·         Please note that this is semi-formal dress code (NO HATS/TOUQUES)

·         If you play @ 4:00 p.m. 

·         PLEASE prepare to clean-up @ the school following your game.  Please be early!!

·         Each Team will need to select ONE PLAYER THAT WILL INTRODUCE THEIR TEAM AND GIVE A BRIEF YEAR SYNOPSIS (Do not introduce all players, year record, zone winner, Wildcard, etc. any other details) Once done your team will get to the food line.

 3.  Game Information

 a)                 Jersey color:  The higher seeded team will wear the light jersey and be determined the HOME TEAM on the scoreboard. The lower seeded team will be asked to wear the darker color and will be VISITORS.

b)                 Game Host /Hostesses:  Each team has been assigned a host/ hostess.  These students will greet you prior to each game.  (minimum 15 minutes)

PLEASE USE THEIR SERVICES as they will be there to:

1)      OPEN & LOCK change rooms (pre-game, ½ time, & end of game)

2)     Ensure teams have towels (returned following games)

3)     Half time oranges

4)     Any other duties ie:  get ice, medical/first aid help, etc.

The Hostesses will be sitting in the bleachers (front row).  They will show you where they will be.

 c)                  Pre-Game Introductions:  Semi final and Final games will have the starting 5 introductions.  Please ensure starters are checked off 10 minutes prior to the start of the game.  Explain difficult pronunciations to the announcer please.

       d) Post Game Wrap-up:   

i)  “Player of the Game” – The site Convener will approach you approximately 5

minutes left in the game to get a player from your team. 

(Not ideal, but it is the best way to keep fair).

 ii)       

·         After shaking hands please line up (on attack lines) and your “Player of the Game” will be announced.

·         Each team will have one recipient per game

·         As coaches, you will select “YOUR” teams player. Do your best to share this memorable award

iii. PLEASE ALL OW TEAMS TO CLEAR OUT BENCH AN D FLOOR AREA BEFORE BRINGING YOUR TEAM ONTO THE FLOOR.

 4.  “HARV Basketball Awards”

                         H  ustle   A  ttitude   R   espect    V   alue

 A feature of the “2010” Championships will be the “HARV Basketball Awards” .  This Award is a teams “OWN” Player Choice Award.  Each member of a team will select one player off of each of their respective teams who best embodies the  “SPIRIT of Basketball”.  Each Player will receive an AWARD presented at the end of a teams last game. This will Follow the Player of the Games Awards presentation

 ·         Remember this is the person (tough call sometimes) that represents team spirit, sportsmanship and leadership of your TEAM.  (Not always your best player).

·         Don Thomson will speak briefly to “ALL” in regards to this award at the Championship Banquet on Thursday evening.

·         Coaches will collect votes from team members and let the Site convenor know their name prior to the teams final game.

 5.  Player Choice Awards

Please forward Players Choice Information to your captain.  They will need to select names and forward to:    Boys – Blake Majcher, Matt Warren

                                                                        Girls – Meghan Bouvier, Malorie Vodon

These nominations must be turned in @ Neelin prior to the last game on Friday  evening (6:45 p.m.)

 6.  Closing Ceremonies & Awards (Saturday afternoon)

 * Reminder that all medallists (1st, 2nd, 3rd ) must remain for closing ceremonies.  If you believe you will have an award winner, we would encourage you to stay for the Awards Presentation.

             Girls Ceremony – to follow the Girls Championship Game (approx. 2:45 p.m.)

            Boys Ceremony – to follow the Boys Championship Game (approx. 4:45 p.m.)
