Welcome to Ecole O’Kelly School. We are a dual track K-8 school with French immersion classes available for students in K-4.

This year will see some changes as we continue to have new families move in and out of the Shilo area. We are looking forward to working with your children. As part of our school development plan, we will be working on the following initiatives this year:

·· Enhancing School Spirit - to develop positive school spirit within a safe and respectful school community through school-wide spirit activities, celebrations, special family events, maintaining the "Principal of the Day" and "caught you being good" programs, and increasing student voice in decision making.

- Enhancing Wellness (Deployment Preparedness and Response) - to respond appropriately to maintain the emotional and physical wellness of students, families and staff during the stressful time of deployment.  This is in preparation for the major deployment of military personnel from CFB Shilo to Afghanistan (Feb. - Aug. 2008).  25-30% of our students will have a parent involved in this dangerous mission.

· Literacy (Writing) - to improve the critical thinking and written response by K-8 students to a variety of text and media.  This includes implementing the 6+1 writing traits at all grade levels and developing rubrics to instruct and assess writing.

The staff at O’Kelly strive to make learning challenging and successful for each one of our students. We are a community of learners dedicated to providing opportunities for students that enable their growth and development. Students are encouraged to participate fully in all aspects of school life. We share with students, parents and the community high expectations for success and work as partners to accomplish shared goals.
