Updated November 2008 The Parent Advisory Council at O’ Kelly is called OPAC, O’Kelly Parent Advisory Council. The OPAC is a body of parents who, on a volunteer basis, are the liaison between parents and the school. Executive is structured as follows: Chairperson Vice-Chairperson Secretary Treasurer Fundraiser Coordinator Members at Large The OPAC has many roles such as presenting the concerns and opinions of parents to the principal and staff on school planning, budgeting, and overall welfare of the school and children. The most obvious function that the community sees is a fundraising group. Without funding from the OPAC and other local community organizations, the school is unable to provide certain items and services for children that they need in order to meet the demands of a progressing education system. The OPAC regular meetings are held bi-monthly, with executive meetings in between so that the council can get together to organize their tasks after each regular meeting. Parents and community are welcome to attend the OPAC’s regular meeting. If you have items that you wish to be added to the regular meeting agenda please feel free to contact a member of the executive through the Main Office at the school or directly through the attached list of executive members.
