Keynote speaker Andre Genthon delivered an excellent presentation to the
students.

Ken Surovy (AFM) IT’S YOUR LUCKY DAY is a
gambling awareness session that provides students with accurate and helpful
information so they will be prepared to make informed decisions about
gambling in the future. The program utilizes a multi-media format and
incorporates an experiential learning exercise to demonstrate how gambling
works. | |

Julie Hockley (AFM) GOOD DRUGS/BAD DRUGS 101 –
An interactive discussion and brainstorming session about alcohol and other
drugs: harmful and beneficial drugs, myths and facts about drug use, social
factors that can influence or pressure youth, making the right choices for
you. | |

Patricia Marchand (MFRC) GIRLS AND HEALTHY
RELATIONSHIPS – Healthy relationships are fun and make you feel good
about yourself. This workshop will explore self-esteem , the importance of
empowerment and the positive experiences young women have when they choose
healthy relationships. This workshop will discuss the impact of female
bullying and how it can hinder our potential as individuals. This will be an
interactive presentation for GIRLS ONLY. Get ready to participate and have
fun! | |

Amanda Hamm (SERC) RELATIONSHIP RANT – In this
workshop students will discuss relationships in general and identify healthy
vs. unhealthy characteristics of relationships. They will be given an
opportunity to look at how their own current relationships are affecting
them. | |

Corinne Bullee DON’T STAND BY – STAND UP! – An
interactive game that explores what it feels like to be in the “bullying hot
seat” and learn how bystanders can help to solve the problem. | |

Shanna Bird (BPS) STUDENT GANG AWARENESS – Learn
about the different gangs in Canada and in Manitoba, gang recruitment,
initiation, girls in gangs and gang behavior. | |

Tracy Young - BEING REAL – INSIDE AND OUT –
Explore the truth about self-esteem and body image and get to know the real
you! Come to understand and recognize common thinking errors and how they
can impact everyday living. Learn how to evaluate and express yourself in a
healthier way. Find out how to build and maintain a positive outlook and way
of being! Learn how to “Be Real”, both inside and out. | |

Sandy McMaster (BU) BE THE CHANGE – How does one
person make a difference in the world? What does leadership mean in
day-to-day living and playing? This interactive workshop will explore the
role of the modern warrior and find real life examples of youth making a
change in the world. Students will find out about “right action”, what it
means and how they can use their strengths and gifts to make a difference. | |

Jenn Sherb (CATC) STRESS: SEE IT, KNOW IT, AND DEAL WITH IT – Stress is the way you react physically and emotionally to change. Like change, stress can be either positive or negative. It’s the pressure from outside that can make you feel tense inside. Stress is an unavoidable fact of life and how you handle it affects your health and happiness. Learn the signs of stress, recognize negative coping skills and learn positive ways to cope. |
